Meet our Founder

Mpumi Mayisa

Founder of Tsoko Art Advisory, Mpumi is a Johannesburg-based curator, writer and cultural worker whose practice is rooted in deep research and a love for material storytelling.

She has worked across the African art ecosystem as a curator and collaborator — from Junior Curator of the NIROX Foundation Winter Sculpture Exhibition (2018–2020) to curatorial projects like Bathini Abafazi?, A Crescendo of Daydreams, and Hlukanisa, uHlanganise — creating spaces where heritage, memory and contemporary expression intersect.

Through Tsoko Art Advisory she guides collectors to build collections that map identity, foster belonging, and create a legacy for generations to come.
